Yesterday, I went to Forth Gallery to view the a fresh idea from the students of Republic Polytechnic. They have formed a group where they use it as a platform to engage schools with art forms.
Evergreen Primary School has answered their call and collaborated with the production of “CAP-Tivating: Cap-tivating Tiny Hearts” together with SlothStudio.
Using caps as a foundation point, the students use various forms of media, be it stencils, paint even fur-like materials over their caps. Viewed singularly, it would not have had any impact visually. Together, they form a story of excitement, an endeavour of child-like demeanour, untouched by the corruption of life.
I have taken the liberty, with express permission from Forth Gallery as well as the Republic Polytechnic students to capture some of the excitement. See the slideshow that I have attached as proof that the works of primary school students can and do manage to bring out the level of interests, even that of Mrs Tharman, wife of Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam - Singapore’s Minister of Finance.
