This movie, which, on my reckoning, run for almost three hours, is a movie that you need to;
- keep still
- keep your wits about you
- try not to consume too much popcorn/nachos or you will miss the great speech exchanges
- try not to consume too much drink, or you will be using all your wits trying to rein that pissing feeling
The movie starred Daniel Craig as journalist Mikael Blomqvist, with a nose for sniffing trouble or conspiracy and lithe sexy siren Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander, a nymphomaniac of private investigator and computer hacker. It is directed by David Fincher(The Social Network).
Plot: Mikael Blomqvist was commissioned to investigate a 40 year old murder. Lisbeth Salander investigated Mikael Blomqvist before he was commissioned, to ensure that he is clean. Blomqvist, enlisted Salander’s help upon knowing who ran a cross-check on him, when his own investigation seem doomed to bang the wall. There are so many sub-plots running across the entire movie.
I thought Daniel Craig showed that he can handle complex emotional drama without appearing too steely and guarded. Rooney Mara should be applauded for giving the many reasons why this movie have been rated a hard R in many countries with her portrayal of being the hapless rape victim, a cool lesbian lover as well as a sultry seducer of men. That she is a computer hacker only add to the excitement in the cinema.
The movie’s pace, I believe is too long. Yet, I was drawn to watch every second of the movie because it is very engaging. I wrote earlier that you have to keep your wits about you. If you have read the book, you need not pay too much attention. Credits to Steven Zaillian for providing the adapted screenplay from the original Swedish movie of the same name.
