The inaugural Singapore Steinway Youth Piano Competition took place on Saturday, 23 June 2012 at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, National University of Singapore. It was organised by Steinway Gallery Singapore and presented by Bank Julius Baer. Out of 18 finalists, 1 was chosen. Ms See Ning Hui impressed the judges with her virtuoso performance on the Steinway grand piano by performing to near perfection for the following pieces;
Mozart – 1st Movement of Sonata in D, k311
Chopin – Impromptu OP.29 No. 1
Khachaturian – Toccata in E Flat Minor
Ms See Ning Hui, 16, is a student from Raffles Girls’ Secondary School. She will be representing Singapore at the 1st South-East Asia Steinway Youth Piano Competition Regional Finals on 28 July 2012, with other eight other finalists from the South-East Asia region.
I managed to get some words from Ms See, in a video below.
