IndigNation 2010 Opens

August 1, 2010 by mhisham · 2 Comments

IndigNation comes again this year. This is the LGBTS Pride Month in Singapore. Although there aren’t any parade ala Mardi Gras elsewhere, this year’s line-up is filled with enough activities to fulfill the heart, mind & soul of the LGBT community here.

Rooftop Access LGBT Art Exhibition

Starting off IndigNation, is an art exhibition featuring works from the creative minds of Aiman Hakim, Kelvin Admadibrata, Samuel Woo, Andrew Robert Ng, Ezzam Rahman, Marla Bendini, Tara Tan & Peenut.

They combine themes related to the LGBT using varied art works based on photography, installations, paintings & mixed media works.

Some Days I Just Want To Be Blue

Seen here is one of the works by Aiman Hakim. There will also be four artists from across the causeway, sharing their artistic perspectives.

The art exhibition will run from the 1st August to the 10th August. As viewing space is constrained, visitors are advised to send an email to rainbowartsproject@gmail.com. (more images after the break)

PinkDot 2010

April 7, 2010 by mhisham · 2 Comments

Last year, I attended the inaugural PinkDot gathering at the Hong Lim Park. It was fun and enlightening to see the amount of support pouring in. People from all walks of life, turn up to provide meaning to the word love.

Love is all encompassing, regardlessly. So, if you are free, please, show your support! :)

Event: Make a PinkDot 2010
Date: 15th May 2010
Time: 5pm / 1700hrs (+0800)
Venue: Hong Lim Park

Here is a short video clip from Adrian Pang, Tan Kheng Hwa & DJ Big Kid.

Everyone should have the freedom to love, regardless of sexual orientation. But fear, ignorance and prejudice often stand in the way. At PinkDot, we believe the first step to overcoming these barriers is for open-minded segments of society to come together. That’s why we’re providing this platform for individuals, organisations and businesses to identify themselves as advocates of a more inclusive, more loving Singapore. If you too feel that LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) people deserve to express their love just like any other Singaporean, please join us at Hong Lim Park on 15 May 2010.

Appearing in this video are the ambassadors for Pink Dot 2010: Actors Adrian Pang and Tan Kheng Hua, and DJ Big Kid.

Music Track: Dreams of a Butterfly by Darren Ng

Contest: Win a Pair of tickets to Oogachaga’s 10th Birthday

December 27, 2009 by mhisham · 3 Comments

2004 was the pinnacle part of my life as a young gay man journeying through life. What held me steadfast to life, I attribute it to Oogachaga. 2004 was where I discovered that, amidst the usual decadence of the gay “lifestyle”, there exist a group of people, who wants to achieve something better with their lives.

So, in 2004, I joined the Oogachaga group (#3). Discovering myself, coming to terms with my-self, my sexuality, and how to manage myself within the diverse reactions that people usually attribute to it. I have become so much more confident with myself. From then on, it is just not Hisham the gay guy; it is Hisham the photographer, Hisham the technology freak, Hisham the traveller. I made a lot of solo trips overseas. I started to appreciate life better.

Oogachaga formed my formative years. So with this in mind, I have a short contest to organise. In 2010, Oogachaga will be celebrating its 10th birthday at Play. Tickets are going at $12 each. I offer you this chance to grab a pair for free just by answering this.
