(disclaimer: I shared with these youths, my experience on live blogging & live tweeting for events)
Why not give this blog updates a see-through? They are part of the Samsung Mobile Explorers. These youths have readily volunteered themselves for this opportunity to report the events as they see.
Combining the use of various electronic devices, they use visual imagery, audio & video recordings to report the latest happenings to the various Youth Olympic Games events & sites they have been assigned to.
Head on now to these blog updates:
or if you just want to see the headlines of each blogger, head on to the Scoops tab on the Samsung Singapore Facebook Fan Page here http://www.facebook.com/SamsungSingapore?v=app_138518376169285
They are also on Facebook where you can have a single point of information here. One cool thing I like about this page is, if you click on it, enter and submit to all the requirements needed to access, is the Tweet Summary for the Day. You can have a visual overview of what people are tweeting about, with regards to #YOG.
Singapore Green One
August 12, 2010 by mhisham · 2 Comments
Come September 19th 2010, there will be a new race in town. Competing on a much reduced carbon footprint than the Singapore GP, the Singapore Green One or the Singapore G1, aligned itself as a family event with the aim of rising awareness for green transport technologies and green alternative energy.
This is also done through educating and engaging the public.
Not many know about the annual Green Transport Week other than the tree huggers, so Singapore Environment Council(SEC) launch Singapore Green One(Singapore G1) with three key exciting items lined up.
Soap-Box Car Race
First up, is the Soap-Box Car Race. While Soap-Box car races are common place in the Americas, this will be the first time in Asia that it will be ran.
This year’s event will be opened to 30 schools with plans to include the rest of Asia in subsequent years.
It is made from recyclable plastics and school teams are free to customise their cars in terms of design & engineering improvements, subject to approval & safety inspections by the SEC.
Eco-Race
Designed by local tertiary institutions, ten eco cars will race each other in the eco-race. Vehicles in this race can use any kind of technology and fuel – from conventional petrol to biofuels, solar or hydrogen.
Pictured above is the eco car built by the NUS Engineering Team. You may take a look at this short video, to have an idea of how some of the various eco cars will look like.
The third exciting event is the WALK – CYCLE – SKATE event organised by the North-West CDC. Some three thousand students and residents from the North West District will do a 3-km walk at East Coast Park before attending the Singapore G1 at The Float @ Marina. Members of the public may call the North-West CDC at 6767 2288 if they wish to participate the WALK-CYCLE-SKATE event.
Besides the three exciting items above, visitors to Singapore G1, which is open to all members of the public for free, will also get to be entertained by local bands as well as pick up nuggets of information at an educational showcase of green technology products and alternative energy. They will also be able to have a “hands-on” experience in advancement in green technology products.
As mentioned above, entry to the Singapore G1 is open freely to all, however, as there are limited seating in the Grand Stand area, members of the public are advised to register online at the Singapore G1 site.
Singapore National Flag Touched The GROUND!

You may refer to my previous post! This time, noticed that nothing has been done to correct the flags that have been inappropriately placed. And what I suspected would happen have happened!
On the left, is what I saw. On the right is what I did. I didn’t bother spreading the flag like it was before, but I bundled it up so that it will not drop again. If I was on my way home, I would have removed the entire flag and bring it home.
Do you remember the previous post where there is a rubbish bin right beside the Flag? Here’s how it looked from the other side.
Even after moving the bin, I still stick to the opinion that it is inappropriate for the Marine Parade GRC to have the Flag displayed this way. Please do not go overboard with the need to IMPRESS your Members of Parliaments! Please make the changes before I report these to the Singapore Police Force!
