I Quit Tech65.org …

[Update: This is an April Fools Joke ]

It’s been quite a whirlwind for me. I was first introduced to Tech65 last year January during the 1st Social Media Breakfast. Since then, I’ve tried attending most of the tech65 recordings as well as have the weekly dose of recordings in my player.

Last year November, Daniel & NTT called me to join Tech65 as the editor. I’ve been spending my Saturday mornings a lot since then, at Geek Terminal. As with all things in life, whenever there is something new to do, it is exciting to embark on. From February till March this year, I’ve been putting up a lot; especially with the main guy, Daniel Tsou and to a certain extent, Farinelli, NTT & Ryu.

But first of all, let me explain how our basic structure’s like. Daniel generally decides what we should talk about and sets the tone for the show. But being the goody-two-shoes boy that he is; the show almost always turns out to be very conservative and bland. None of the pizazz of even the more technical podcast, LeoLaporte!

NTT does the audio editing; the rest of us editors contribute towards the content of the show. My beef with these people is not the actual podcast itself, rather, its their affiliations. Now, in Tech65, if any of your have received any of our name cards, you can actually see two titles that we have. The fun title, and the official title. Our official title is Editor (or founder, for daniel). My fun title is Gates Keeper.

Now, you may think I’ve either gone grammar-hell ‘cuz theres no way Gates Keeper should be spelt that way. Anyone would have point out that it should be spelt gatekeeper. That is true, until I tell you that in Tech65, we have camps. Some are Mac fanboys, some swear by Linux; well, for me, I’m a PC. So in a way, I am the Keeper for Bill Gates. So that’s Gates Keeper for you. That is fine and dandy, until you get all the microsoft bashing for each recording sessions from people like Daniel, NTT, Farinelli & Ryu.

Seriously, I have no issues at all with Microsoft products. What makes these people so high and mighty that they can just pooh pooh all the latest initiatives from Microsoft. I’ve had good contacts with the Microsoft Sg development team and I think they are really on to something. However, if you listen to our Episode 111, where I’m unfortunately, not at attendance, you can hear absolute bashing of the highest magnitude! That’s the straw the broke the camel’s back and that episode(and one other thing) led me to decide that, Tech65, is afterall not for me. They can jollywell change their podcast to Apple65 or Google65 for all I care.

The other thing that I’m not happy about is that, for all our work and contributions, Daniel is paying us peanuts. Definitely not worth the time spent, travelling t0 & fro, home and Geek Terminal and various other events, representing Tech65. I suppose, he can hire monkeys if he so wants to pay peanuts.

This very public declarations may have some ripple effects but who cares? I don’t. I quit Tech65 and thats final! Are you IN ?  I’m NOT!
