Much Ado About Flash Mobs

I am sure, many have viewed the recent slew of mass events, both voluntarily done as well as commercially related. Some have applauded the move as Singaporeans taking steps, to do something outside the mold, others have mocked, either for always mimicking those done elsewhere or especially those done for commercial reasons.
I wrote this short post, to tell the naysayers to bugger off (I don’t think this will succeed, of course). We have too many naysayers; so to those who have participated in flash mobs, I say, good for you and hope you partake in more flash mobs in future.
If you prefer to be anal & puristic about the concept of Flash Mob being a non-commercial, I recommend you join the Facebook group for Mission:Singapore – http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=13844842091 – organised & helmed by energetic Singapore youths. Hey, even if you are my age (I’m 33), there’s nothing wrong to let the young lead, when it comes to doing fun things together!
Otherwise, for the commercial entities, be it HTC or Klik.tv or TheRightSpin or anyone else, here & abroad, if you feel, organised mass events helps you achieve your objectives, go for it. Anyone else who think otherwise, let them be. Life is too short to be bothered about trivialities or definitions.
Sooner or later, people will move on to something new to cause shock & awe. By that time, people would have wisen up to the antics, if I can say that, and even join in the fun. Heck we need lots of fun right now!
I saw the Jollibee flash mob dance in the Philippines, great move I say. It is definitely for the fun of it.
So I urge both camps, to stop arguing, what a flash mob consist of, just do it for fun sakes!
