Review: Acronis TrueImage HOME 2010 for Netbook

There have always been a lot of instances when disaster happens to your computer, that backup that you keep postponing, which have always been taken for granted, appears to be a more favourable ticket, than winning the national lottery.

The basic work of creating and maintaining a backup, seemed like a tall order, reserved to the system administrators at your work place. Your own system, where you store data, so precious, like the video of your firstborn child and images from your best friend’s birthday party, your most successful sales-clinching documents and the spreadsheet that details the work you have done, risk being thrown into an infinite loop of zeros, IF you do not do your own backup.

There are a lot of software solutions created to do your own backup, many are intuitive and easy to work out. Acronis is one such product. Acronis have recently come out with 2 new products for the consumer segment called the HOME 2010. With the support from the good folks from Lewis PR, I was able to to get a complimentary copy of the Acronis TrueImage HOME 2010 for Netbook as well as TrueImage HOME 2010 OC Backup & Recovery.

Here is a video I created to show you, how easy it is, to recover from a computer disaster, where you cannot even boot-up to your Windows environment (doesn’t this scenario seem all too common to you?)

Using the Acronis TrueImage Home 2010 for Netbook from Mohd Hisham on Vimeo.

An edition of Acronis True Image Home 2010 optimized for netbooks. With Acronis True Image Home 2010 Netbook Edition you can back up to and restore your data from different storage media.

There you go. The video that exhibits the ease with which I restored the Samsung NC10 netbook. The backup process intuitively ask for an external media, where in this case, I used a 2GB Sandisk Flash Drive and a Western Digital Elements 160GB External HDD. Additional information that may interest you, when it comes to Netbook support for the Netbook edition, the processors supported are Intel’s Atom 230, 330, N270, N280, Z500, Z510, Z520, Z530, and Z540 chips or the VIA C7-M chip.

“How Much Will This Cost Me?”, you asked.

“How much does it cost to replace “… the video of your firstborn child and images from your best friend’s birthday party, your most successful sales-clinching documents and the spreadsheet that details the work you have done …”?”, I replied.

Acronis True Image Home 2010 series of product pricing can be located at http://www.acronis.com.sg . Do explore the site out, to see the products that will definitely add value and security to your home as well as the enterprise.
