Press Release: Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack

For over seven years from 1999, I worked at Pacific Internet Ltd, as one of its LAN Administrator. Some of the duties include technical support to in-house staff, taking care of the Intranet servers, file & print servers, maintaining & updating the antivirus servers, ethernet, wireless & PABX routing & patch management, laptop and PC deployment & maintenance, provide backup support and disaster recovery documentation & technical writing.

The highlight of the job, was when I was tasked, as part of a team effort, to work on patch management & deployment solutions. At the enterprise level at that time, the only solution available was the Bare Metal Restore, available via 2 or 3 big names like Symantec, Legato etc. We proceed with BMR as that works well where it comes to server management. It was not until 2004, when Symantec releases LiveState Recovery, that we found a solution for laptops & desktops. We have been depending a lot onNorton Ghost, creating a new image for each individual system, and refreshing the image, everytime there are major system upgrades & updates, and definitely keeping the antivirus signatures updated. It was tough work. LiveState Recovery was a big injection in the rear that we sorely needed.

Now, by end of 2009, Acronis has released, at consumer level, an add-on tool, to the Acronis True Image Home 2010. It is called the Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack. The obvious direction of this story, is the similarity this add-on tool has with Symantec Live State Recovery.

You do not have to worry about keeping different versions of a backup to restore. Regardless, if you have a Netbook, laptop or PC, you can use the created image and restore to any of them. Your image will definitely be a little bigger, to store and anticipate the additional drivers for unexpected systems, but you definitely need not have to worry that once your working desktop expires, you will not have it working on another system, which is not similar to the one you used.

Here are some additional information you may wish to take note.
