Disappointment with iAlif.com
This is going to be a short post. I am disappointed with iAlif.com for not extending support for prayer times for Symbian, reserving their energies on, let me quote from their blog post,”… What is to be of iAlif.com on the mobile sphere? We won’t be doing J2ME apps. For now, we’re focusing all our attention on iPhone, iPod Touch and possibly the iPad apps, and a pipeline of Android and Blackberry versions as well. …”.
So, now, I’ve got to find another source for the prayer times & other valuable information that their 1.0 was able to provide. How sad!

The guys from REQA was supposed to deal with that competency. Instead of writing native apps for other platforms, they are going with only a J2ME app at http://mobile.reqa.com which you can use on your Symbian phones, and I suspect an agnostic solution using PhoneGap for other platforms.
This is just not the way we wanted to do things. We don’t mind the J2ME app lying around. We wanted to get it out to as many people as possible, esp to those ppl on NS.
But as they parted ways, we’re left with the smartphone competency people, and I don’t want to spend time and resources on pushing a shoddy J2ME product onto the market, and just link REQA’s J2ME app which they’ve already developed.
We don’t think J2ME/Symbian is going to change the way these apps are going to work. We want an experience and so we’re just going to put all those resources into constructing a good experience on some of the most advanced platforms on the market, esp on the iPhone and Android.
