Calling all Facilitators, Social Innovators, and Designers!

Greetings!

Have you ever wondered what an individual can do to tackle some of the largest and most pressing social issues of our time?

d.shop: design + social innovation workshop is a workshop (duh!) which puts you through the Design Thinking problem solving framework, giving you the means to create innovative solutions to social problems.

Our workshop incorporates design thinking to offer different themes, or to target specific problem areas. Each track will take you through the whole DT process — and conclude with a pitching session to real NGOs, who will provide feedback. And if you really impress them, they could be your institutional support to bring your idea to life!

What is Design Thinking?

Design Thinking is a multidisciplinary problem-solving approach founded on defining your problem, understanding it, ideating, prototyping, selecting, implementing and learning.

It is about asking the fundamental questions to the problem, so that you can devise solutions that aren’t just related to a symptom of the problem (e.g. high drop out rates), but which target the root cause (e.g. teacher burnout). As Henry Ford once said, “If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said ‘faster horses’.”

Syinconnect will be in early July this year, but we’re holding d.shop on 13 March for people who’d like to get involved at Syinconnect as facilitators.
