When we die …

What happens when we die? This is a pretty morbid discussion I had with DK yesterday at Starbucks Suntec City while waiting for other friends to arrive to visit the IT Show 2010.
This topic came about when Facebook sent me a reminder that my friend, Kelvin, is having a birthday today.
Kelvin passed away last year. While I will not go into the details of his passing, it was a discussion point for me. DK says there is a function in Facebook to set a person’s account as a dead account but still open to friends as sort of a memorial.
So I did a search on Facebook, and I found this.
Back to DK & me, I said, if I die, there is a hell lot of social networks that I am in to report that I am no longer around. It would help if there is one network that will inform the rest that I am dead, to memorialize me, which is not prone to abuse & misuse.
What will you do? Will you tell someone in advance to help preserve your account (if the social network allows for that kind of thing) or you will leave your account as it is?

Haven’t plan yet. Maybe I should start planning…..

This is a site that you can entrust your passwords too, and once they are informed of your death by your NOK they will then proceed to close everything on your behalf.
I just can’t remember the name at this point of time.

@mhisham, Yes I think it is a paid service. Some annual fee thing.

I don’t really know.
I won’t be around to see it anymore (no, close it).
Then again, it’s nice to be remembered (yes, keep it open).

I’ll probably leave my account as it is.
Life and death is too short to account for.
If I’m worth remembering, somehow I’ll be remembered.
What matters is not after the death.
What matters is the impact While we are still alive.
Hmm… I think I’m preaching to the choir here.
